What are some of the titles in your current TRB pile?
Shari Lapena’s The Couple Next Door
David Mitchell’s The Bone Clocks
Iain Reid’s I’m Thinking of Ending Things
Laura McHugh’s The Weight of Blood
What book are you currently reading?
I’m switching back and forth between Attica Locke’s The Cutting Season and Kate Racculia’s The Bellweather Rhaphsody. For those who haven’t read either, The Cutting Season is a modern-day murder mystery set at an old Louisiana plantation turned tourist destination. The Bellweather Rhapsody is tougher to explain, but think Glee meets The Shining and you’ll get the sense of it.
What do you hope to add to your TBR pile soon and why?
I’m always on the lookout for books with great unexpected twist endings, the kind that makes me drop the book mid-page when I realize I didn’t really have a clue what was happening at all. Those books don’t come along very often, but when they do, they really blow me away.
Bonus: Which author do you want to see have a new book out soon?
Elan Mastai, author of All Our Wrong Todays. I absolutely love science fiction books that go beyond spaceships and alien invasions and really try to tell us something about ourselves, and that’s exactly what this debut did. I can’t wait to see what he comes out with next.
Brian Cohn is an ER doctor living in St. Louis with his wife and two rambunctious children. A lifelong gourmand of great fiction, he has had two previous novels published by Pandamoon Publishing. His first novel, THE LAST DETECTIVE, was recently named Underground Book Reviews’ editor’s choice for Novel of the Year.
Brian talks about his newest book, The Unraveling of Brendan Meeks, here.
